The Pacific Advantage

Sustainability is not an emerging trend or a fad; it has fundamentally changed the way we do business. It’s easy to talk about sustainability, but stewardship provides a philosophical framework.

At Pacific Seafood, we feel that sustainability can only be achieved through the mindset of stewardship. Stewardship is about how we manage the resource, using science and most current research to make responsible decisions. Stewardship is the use of technology for a more efficient harvest and minimal impact on the ecosystems. Stewardship gives us the standard in which to make these decisions, including how we obtain quality assurance and traceability of our products. It’s easy to say we process quality products but if we can’t track them to the source we can’t be assured that our products have been harvested in legal and safe regions.

Pacific Seafood is driving this point home in an initiative we call “The Pacific Advantage.” The Pacific Advantage includes four key values: Stewardship, Sustainability, Quality Assurance and Traceability. These values are not slogans; they’re the foundation of Pacific Seafood and I look forward to discussing each of them further in future blog posts.
